Christina Barclay Delano, 88, of Lincoln, died Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at the Tabitha Nursing Home, Lincoln, NE. She was born January 6, 1922 at Motherwell, Scotland. She graduated from Motherwell Central in January of 1937. She married Floyd Delano on November 25, 1944 at South Delzel Parrish Church in Motherwell, Scotland. She served for four years during WWII in the Medical Corp of the Royal Air Force where she was trained in Air Ambulance Medicine. She worked as a nurse at the Mennonite Hospital in Beatrice for over 30 years. She volunteered for Tabitha Hospice at the age of 86. Christina had been a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and had been a member of Centenary United Methodist Church Women for 50 years. She enjoyed traveling, being a homemaker, and also sewing, knitting, and gardening. Survivors are sons, Albert John Delano, Lincoln, Alfred Brown Delano and wife, Jane, of Lincoln; daughter, Suzan Kay Foutz and husband Daryl of Thayer, NE; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Gertrude McLuckie of Wishaw, Scotland. She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Delano (4/9, 2006); parents, John and Mary (Barclay) McLuckie; 10 siblings, Helen, John, George, Molly, Tom, Meg, Betty, Andrew, Alfred, and Jessie. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, March 4, 2010 at Harman-Wright Mortuary Chapel, Beatrice with Michael Griffin officiating. Burial will be in Fairbury Cemetery, Fairbury, NE.
